Rebate Amounts

If the Massachusetts Dept. of Public Utilities approves Mass Save's 2022 - 2024 energy efficiency plan, Mass Save will offer rebates to Concord households and businesses that currently heat with natural gas if they switch to heat pumps. Mass Save will provide rebates of $10,000 for air-source heat pumps used as a home’s sole source of heating and $1,250 per ton of capacity for air source heat pumps used for partial home heating. Generous rebates for businesses will also be available. A decision by the DPU is expected by the end of January 2022 and rebates would cover systems installed any time after January 1, 2022. CMLP will soon be offering rebates similar to the Mass Save rebates to Concord households and businesses that switch from oil, propane, electric resistance or ETS heating to heat pumps. Check back for updates on the Mass Save and CMLP rebates.

If you wish to apply for CMLP's current air-source heat pump rebate now, you can calculate your rebate by using the following tables.

*** Residences may install more than three single-head ductless systems, though the rebate will only support the first three installed. Rebates for ducted and multi-head systems are limited to 4 tons (48,000 BTU/hr) of heating capacity (maximum heating capacity at 5°F). Residences may install larger systems, though the rebate will only support the first 4 tons (48,000 BTU/hr) of heating capacity installed.

****For the purposes of determining rebate levels for ducted and multi-head systems, CMLP uses the system’s maximum heating capacity (BTU/hr) at 5°F.

Commercial Customers: Rebates are available to all businesses, non-profits, and government agencies that meet project eligibility requirements and are based on the following calculation.

Annual Rebate Caps

Customers may install any combination of single-head ductless, multi-head ductless, and/or ducted systems. Customers may apply for more than one air-source heat pump (ASHP) rebate over the life of the ASHP rebate program. However, over any 12-month period, the following dollar caps apply.

  • Standard rebate level maximum: $2,000
  • 120% Income-Based Rebate level maximum: $3,000

A new 12-month period begins the day after the installer invoice date for a prior installation.

*A “customer” is defined by a unique internal customer number in CMLP’s billing system.  In most cases, a customer with multiple accounts will have the same customer number assigned to them.  However, if a business or property owner or manager in Concord has multiple customer numbers in CMLP’s billing system, CMLP can, at its sole discretion, define them as a single “customer.”
