LIMITATIONS ON BUILDING PERMITS

Given the Governor’s recent updated essential services list issued on Tuesday, March 31st and the Massachusetts Municipal Association COVID-19 update for Municipalities, the Concord Building Inspections Division announces that no new building permits for non-essential construction projects, such as home improvement or renovation projects, will be issued effective Friday, April 3, 2020.

Concord Building Inspections Division will continue to review applications and issue permits for NEW housing construction and for emergency projects. The Inspections staff will also continue to inspect, all work that has been permitted as of April 2, 2020, provided that the contractor has in place Health And Safety Plans (HASP) for their construction site and are practicing the Supplemental Guidelines for construction sites Addendum #1 Limiting Exposures and Worker Infection Protocol for COVID-19.

Statement Regarding COVID-19

Due to the COVID-19 virus, all town buildings are closed to the public until further notice. Non-essential services have been suspended. All permit applications and building permit sign off- sheets will be accepted via a Drop Box outside the front door of the Department of Planning and Land Management building at 141 Keyes Road. Please note that roll plans are not able to be accepted at this time and should be submitted via a flash drive or USB drive (please place drive in an envelope with the address or project clearly noted). Application materials smaller than 10MB may be emailed to Buildinginspections@concordma.gov. At this time Inspections will be done on a limited basis. Please call 978-318-3280 to schedule an inspection. If possible Inspections will be done within two business days after your request for inspection.

Beginning January 2, 2019 -

All residential inspections for 
smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms, and heat detection
will be conducted by the Concord Fire Prevention Department.
