After twenty-nine years with the Town of Concord, Concord Municipal Light Plant Director Dave Wood has announced his intention to take a position as the Director of the Wellesley Municipal Light Plant. “I want to express my gratitude to Dave for his good work,” said Kerry Lafleur, Town Manager, “Dave came to Concord straight from Northeastern University as an engineering intern and worked his way up the ladder."
Throughout his career in Concord, Wood has worked on achieving the community’s goals of saving energy and greening electric sources, and he has been involved in many significant projects, most recently the conversion to ERP system, NISC, as well as the on-going Advance Metering Project, which when complete will allow for time-of-use metering, resulting in cost savings for customers as well as lower greenhouse gas emissions.
“Dave has worked hard to bring the Light Plant into the 21st century and ensure Concord offers competitive rates while maintaining strong financials,” added Town Manager Lafleur, “Dave’s leadership throughout his time in Concord has not gone unnoticed; and we will always be grateful for his contributions. We wish him well in his new position.”
Jason Bulger, Chief Technology Officer, will be appointed to serve as the Interim Director of CMLP effective Saturday, January 13, 2024. Bulger brings with him over a decade of municipal experience and coordination with two separate Light Plants (Groton and Concord), where he’s been involved in operations as a resource during division and strategic meetings, in addition to serving as the head of the Town’s Broadband team for two years. The short-term interim appointment ensures a smooth transition and provides the opportunity to conduct a current-state assessment and seek meaningful feedback from employees and customers, in preparing for and outlining a process for the search and selection of the next CMLP Director.
