[ARCHIVED] Reduce the risk of mosquito-borne illnesses

Graphic on preventing Tick and Mosquito bites from the Great Meadow Health Collaborative

The state’s Department of Public Health has identified an increased risk of the mosquito-borne virus Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) in Plymouth and Worcester counties, with the first human case of EEE in 2024 identified in a Worcester County man.

Local public health officials are reminding Concord residents to take precautions to prevent mosquito bites.

  • Avoid being outside at dusk and dawn
  • Remove standing water where mosquitos can breed
  • Use CDC recommended insect repellant
  • Wear long sleeved shirs, long pants, and socks
  • Repair window screens- keep mosquitos out.
