Concord250 invites Massachusetts-based poets to join a "Call to Poets" and celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Battles of Concord and Lexington, and the signing of the Declaration of Independence!
This is your chance to reflect on 250 years of American independence, shared ideals, and the hopes we carry into the future. Bring your imagination, unique perspective, and experience to honor America's past while envisioning a future that truly embodies justice, equity, and inclusion for all.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking one original, unpublished English-language poem per entrant, no longer than 260 words (excluding title, dedications, and epigraphs). Your poem should reflect on:
- Liberty
- Resilience
- The Future of America

Beyond the honor of contributing to this historic commemoration, there are exciting prizes:
- First Prize: $1,000 cash award
- Four Additional Cash Prizes
- Publication: Awarded poems will be published and available for download.
- Public Readings: Winners will be invited to read their poems at a public event on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at 3 PM at the Concord Free Public Library, with an additional reading opportunity for the first-prize winner.
