An act of vandalism was reported to the Concord Police Department on August 23, 2025. An individual was seen on video intentionally kicking, stepping on, and pulling up Israeli flags and two signs at a memorial display for the victims of the October 7, 2023 attack on Israel by Hamas. The Concord Police Department is investigating the vandalism as a possible hate incident and has reported it to the Middlesex District Attorney's Office, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), the Massachusetts State Police Hate Crimes Awareness and Response Team (HART Unit), the MA Attorney General’s Office, and the Concord-Carlisle Human Rights Council.
This act follows a recent incident of graffiti found on the town sidewalk in front of the same property on July 30, 2025. We condemn these acts in the strongest possible terms. The Town, through its Select Board, Town Manager, and DEI Commission is committed to working with our residents and community partners to address the root causes of antisemitism and racism in Concord. We call on everyone to join us in this effort to ensure Concord remains a safe and welcoming home for all.
Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact the Concord Police Department at (978) 318-3400.
