Winter Storm Preparations

As we prepare for the upcoming storm, the Town of Concord wants to ensure all residents stay safe.We reiterate the Governor’s request that people stay off the road to prevent accidents and allow Public Works crews to clear roads and Public Safety responders to handle emergencies.

Please review these critical safety tips:

Reporting Outages & Emergencies

  • To Report an Outage: Call our after-hours line at (844) 723-1287.
  • Life-Threatening Issues: For downed wires, sparking equipment, or fires, call 9-1-1 immediately.
  • Downed Lines: Always assume any downed wire is live and dangerous. Stay at least 30 feet away and keep children and pets indoors.

Generator Safety

  • Never operate a generator indoors, in a garage, or near open windows. Carbon Monoxide is a silent killer.
  • Prevent backfeeding by never plugging a portable generator directly into a wall outlet. This sends electricity back onto the grid, which can be fatal for our line crews working to restore your power. Generators must be connected via an approved transfer switch or by plugging appliances directly into the unit.

 General Preparedness

Snow Operations

  • This is expected to be a long duration snow storm, with periods of high winds and reduced visibility.  Please be patient as crews work to keeps roads passable.
  • For all snow-related calls please call Highway & Grounds,  Snow Operations 978-318-3220.
  • Clear fire hydrants when possible.

Be prepared, be safe!
