The West Concord Junction Cultural District Committee commissioned three local artists in the summer of 2024 for a public art project entitled Outside the Box to add color and fun to our business district. Emily Morrison, Ivy Randall, and Steve Bermundo created designs inspired by the neighborhood.
Emily Morrison was inspired by the architecture of former manufacturing buildings for her work at Main and Baker.
At Main and Church Ivy Randall celebrated nature with a playful design of cartoon birds doing many of things people like to do in the area from playing soccer and riding a bike, to enjoying a cafe and engaging in the arts.
Steve Bermundo's work beside the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail where it crosses Main Street, is set of graphics capturing design details of a train depot.
Each of the artists received a stipend made possible through a grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
