As part of the recent Lead and Copper Rule updates, the EPA has mandated that every public water supplier inventory all water service lines in their distribution system to identify and eventually remove lead service lines. The Concord Water Department began conducting this inventory and initial outreach in 2017.

Service Line Inventory (SLI) is a comprehensive list of all water service lines connected to a public water system (PWS). The SLI is required by the Lead and Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR) from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP). Concord submitted the initial SLI in October 2024, with updates in November 2024 and December 2025.

OCT INVENTORY

Can I request information on my water service line?

Absolutely! In November 2024 and December 2025, all residents with a water service of unknown material that was installed before the lead ban in 1986 or a water service that is known to be made of lead or galvanized iron/steel will be receiving a letter approved by Town Staff and MassDEP via First Class Mail.

Feel free to call, email or stop by the office to inquire about the material of your water service.  A searchable water service line map is updated annually in December .

Concord Public Works staff are continually working to update our water service records. If the information on the water service line material at your property needs to be updated, please send us an email with all the details.

Get the Lead Out!

Concord continues to be committed to facilitating the removal of all lead and galvanized water service lines in the Concord Water System.  Please visit the Lead Service Line Replacement page for more details on the current program.
