A Challenging Game with Beautiful Tiles
Mahjong, a game that originated in China, is commonly played by four players. Similar to the Western card game Rummy, Mahjong is a game of skill, strategy and calculation and involves a certain degree of chance. The game is played with a set of 144 tiles based on Chinese characters and symbols. The winning hand must score a minimum number of points.
Mahjong is played on Wednesdays from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. If you are brand new to Mahjong, the group suggests learning a bit about the game first - either on line or at the library - and then sitting in to observe until you are confident to join.
